In this article you will learn:
What are custom courses?
Custom courses let you use the same tools we use to build courses on uLearn. You can create and edit courses on any topic and tailor them to your organisation.
You create and manage all your custom courses from My Courses.
Why we introduced custom courses
uLearn's catalogue content covers all core areas, however, many organisations also have their own rules and requirements to teach their staff, and these are often not related to cyber security. Custom courses let you train your workforce on any topic using a custom learning management system (LMS).
How custom courses fit into uLearn
uLearn is organised into separate areas, each with its own purpose:
Area | Purpose |
Catalogue (Course Library) | Browse, evaluate and enrol on usecure's platform courses |
My Courses | Create, edit and manage courses owned by your organisation, and view courses shared with you by a partner |
Gap Analysis and Auto Enrol | Manage the Gap Analysis and the courses in your Auto Enrol programme |
Platform courses in the Catalogue can't be edited directly. To customise one, duplicate it. The copy becomes a course owned by your organisation and appears in My Courses, where you can edit it. Changes to your copy don't affect the original platform course.
How to create a custom course
Go to uLearn > Course Library.
Click + Create course in the top-right corner. This button is available from both the Catalogue and My Courses tabs.
This opens the uLearn – Create Course page, which has two tabs:
Course – enter the course details, including the course title, description, source language, additional languages, difficulty, category, style, subject, and course icon. You can also choose to randomise the order of answers and questions.
Access Control – for MSPs and distributors, manage which downstream customers can access the course.
When you've filled in the required fields, click Create Course. You can then add slides and content to your course.
To leave the page without creating a course, click Back to My Courses in the top-right corner.
For step-by-step instructions, see How to create a custom course.
Where to find and manage your custom courses
Go to uLearn > Course Library.
Select the My Courses tab.
My Courses shows every course that belongs to your organisation. Courses are grouped by who owns them:
Owned by [your organisation] – courses you have created, or platform courses you have duplicated.
Shared with you from [partner] – courses an MSP or distributor has shared with you, where applicable.
You can search your courses with Search my courses…, filter by Languages, sort by Name, and switch between grid and table views.
Duplicated platform courses appear with (Copy) at the start of the course name, for example (Copy) AI Agents.
Actions you can perform on your custom courses
Preview Course – opens a new browser tab where you can run through the course as a learner. Responses in preview mode are not saved, because it is a simulation and not a real enrolment.
Edit Course – edit the course name, description, languages, difficulty, category, course icon, and question and answer settings.
Edit Slides – change slide content and reorder slides.
Delete Course – deletes the course slides and all enrolments for that course.
Enrol users – enrol users or groups on the course. MSPs can also enrol customers.
Duplicate Course – creates a copy of the course, which appears in My Courses.
Note: Courses shared with you by a partner can be enrolled on, but only the owning organisation can edit them.
Managing partner access (MSPs and distributors)
If you're an MSP or distributor, use the Access Control tab when creating or editing a course to choose which downstream customers can access it. Courses you share appear in your customers' My Courses tab under Shared with you from [your organisation].
