Sending a test email of a phishing simulation allows you to see what your end users will see when receiving your phishing simulations and is also an opportunity to check which method is currently the default setting for sending out phishing simulations (SMTP or Message Injection).
There are 2 ways in which you can send out a test phishing simulation before sending it out to your end users:
When creating the simulated phishing email
At the Configure stage of creating a phishing simulation, once you have provided a sender email address, the button to Send Test Email will be enabled.
Here you will be able to insert the email address you would like the test email to be sent to.
By default the recipient name and email address fields will be pre-populated with the user credentials you used to sign into the system. However, you can edit these before sending the test email
Once the simulated phishing email has been created and saved
To send a test email of a simulation that has already been created, navigate to uPhish > View Simulations and select the simulation by clicking on the check box next to the name of the simulation.
The Actions button will be enabled where you can select Send Test Email from the dropdown menu:
This will prompt the Send Test Email dialogue box to open where you can type the email address you would like the test email to be sent to.
Please note test emails can only be sent to one email address at a time.
As soon as you have sent a test email, a pop up will appear on screen notifying you of whether the email was sent using SMTP or Message Injection.
